Okay so I love anime, and my all time favourite anime, which I'm sure a lot of you can agree with, is Attack on Titan. I am so happy to hear that season 2 is coming out in 2016! My favourite character is Armin Arlert, the physically weak but intelligently strong deuteragonist. Where are his parents??? I know they supposedly died outside the wall but they are never seen in any flashbacks. why not? ? They didn't die when Armin was a baby or anything. Are they plot relevent? Were the writers just lazy? Who knows? So while reading up on my question, hoping to settle the curiosity building up inside me, I found many fan theories that I just love, here is mine.
We know that Armin lived with his grandpa and was basically raised by him, even named, but why? I think his parents were quite neglectful. He was being beat up on the streets while they were off doing who knows what and his grandpa was too old to defend him. His parents didn't leave the walls until he was about 8 or 9 (in the anime) so they were around for most of his life. They are where Armin got most of his interest about the outside world, it was from them and he got bullied for it. He read the books, dreamed of fiery lands and salty waters. He even wanted to go out of the walls just like his parents were planning to do (once again in the anime). So why are they so neglectful. Let's look at it this way. If you and your significant other wanted to travel and go on dangerous life threatening adventures, is having a child a good idea? Of course not! Armin was an accident interfearing with the dreams of two young lovers. He merely a second priority to them.
This didn't mean they hated their child or anything. Armin still looked up to them but it bothered me that they were never there for him. Alright, so as I said before, his parents were planning a trip beyond the walls but how would they get passed the titans let alone the military police who wouldn't let anyone through. They were geniuses of course, I mean, Armin had to get his talents somewhere so it only makes sense that one of his parents, if not both, were just as gifted. They knew they had to go over the wall and stay above the titans, out of reach. What if they created something which was powerd by compressed gas and could fly? Maybe it could have a basket to sit in and store items. But what could that be? How about a... HOT AIR BALLOON! In chapter 55 of the manga, there was mention of a couple that tried to escape in a hot air balloon and although it never said who they were, fans are saying (or at least hoping) they were Armin's parents.
Does this mean they were captures by the military and put in jail or did they go on a miraculous adventure and see beautiful sights? Maybe they found another surviving colony of humans or maybe... they merely crashed and died not far from the walls protection. This is something I will wait to find out. Does it mean they are plot relevant? not necessarily. After all it's only a theory, however it gave me enough closure for now. Let me know what you think about this mysterious plot hole in the comments and subscribe for more random theories.

Thranduil's Crown craft
In my Stage craft class at school we were told to create a prop or costume and tell what kind of play or scene it could be used in. It was individual but of course my friends and I brainstormed. One of them said she would make Gandalf's staff, which I thought was a good idea however I wanted to do something more complicated. In the end I decided to make the Elvish crown Thranduil wore in the hobbit.
How I would make it, I had no clue. Luckily I found a great tutorial on youtube explaining how to use oven dry clay and wire. I went to Michael's for the supplies but if you can I would suggest somewhere less expensive. This was the end result...
sense this was my first attempt of trying anything "artsy" I was so pleased at how simple the strategy was. The clay and wire can be used for so many other things involving cosplay or prop building if you take time to plan it out. I hope I make more crafts to share with you guys soon.

Hello Nerd Flowers
Hello my beautiful Nerd Flowers! I have started this blog as a summer project that I hope will continue for a long time. My name is Erin Lazz and I am huge nerd. My future posts will involve a lot of my personal thoughts on varying subjects and a few rants that some might disagree with, so feel free to add your own opinions in the comments and start some "friendly debates", because who doesn't like talking about what they love? That's what i'm doing.
Anyways, I hope this flower bed can become a place for nerds of all kinds. I am just starting out so I hope you can support me and enjoy what I do on this blog.
